Sylvia Janein's Story

I was glad when I no longer had to go to school. I married one month before graduation so didn't graduate with my class, Foolish me, I do regret that I didn't stay for graduation. I married my husband, Jim on May 11, 1961. Yes! Fifty years coming up. We lived in Sonoma off and on for 30 years. All four of our children were born At Sonoma Valley Hospital. Jim, Jr. finally married this July to a wonderful woman named, Karen from Reno. She has three grown children and one grandson. Albert has one son, Clayton who turned 18 this year. Charlotte and her partner live close by and Edith lives here in Reno, also. We moved to Reno, NV 16 years ago, bought a home. I love this area. We have the full four seasons with lots of snow in the winter and heat in the summer. Jim retired ten years ago; he keeps busy gardening and doing his woodworking projects. I still work full time for a TPA in Sparks, NV, have been with them for 13 years. Sometimes, I think about retiring, but have no plans to do so in the near future. I enjoy knitting, crocheting and am an avid player of WOW (World of War Craft), an on line game where I can relax for a time in my own little world. Jim passed away on December 28, 2010 here in Reno. 49 years. Live is so different without him. He was my very best friend, my companion and my lover. The biggest surprise of my life was when my twins were born. In 1972 they didn't have sonograms and they didn't x-ray you unless they were expecting complications in your pregnancy. When I came out from under the anesthetic, I asked the Dr. what I had. He said "you are the mother of beautiful twin daughters" I said. "œAre you sure? I am only having one". I have learned from my kids to be very patient that all things take time. It seems my kids took longer to mature than most. Now they have become the parent and me the child. If I go out they want to know where and with whom. I share my home with my son, JIM and daughter-in-law, Karen, which I find very rewarding. We get along great and have become very close friends... My oldest friend has passed away but we met through a Lonely Hearts club were we corresponded via snail mail in the 1960's. He was in North Carolina, and I in Sonoma. We met in person on January 26, 1961 and were married on May 11, 1961. We clicked because we had a lot in common. We were young and very niave. Any way we managed to stay together and as the years passed we realized we were made for each other.
